WB and NDF partner to help Africa to address climate change
WB and NDF signs an agreement for support to four climate change initiatives
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Nordic Development Fund (NDF) will provide a contribution of 2.4 million euros to establish a new Africa NDF Climate Change Program Single-Donor Trust Fund in the World Bank. The NDF resources will be used to finance four major studies on climate change in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The joint World Bank and NDF support covers three regional studies that will assess the vulnerability of regional infrastructure assets to climate change, design insurance instruments for climate adaptation, and identify feasible technologies for low carbon development. The fourth study will address climate change impacts in coastal regions of Tanzania and Zanzibar and identify priority adaptation investments to enhance resilience.
The agreement was signed during the World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC between Jamal Saghir, Director, Sustainable Development Department for the Africa Region, World Bank, Helge Semb, Managing Director at NDF, and Leena Klossner, Deputy Director at NDF.
