Gender and Climate Change
Ref: NDF C26
EUR 2.0 million
Project period: 2011-2014
Partner agency: Asian Development Bank
Project completed in June 2017. Actual disbursed amount EUR 2,052,043.00.
Objectives
The objective of the proposed project is to mainstream gender into national and sub-national climate change related polices, facilitate participation of women in the decision making process regarding climate change related issues and support development of policies on carbon revenue distribution. The TA will support national and sub-national government agencies in incorporating gender specific concerns in their work on climate change related policies. By cooperating with national women’s groups, awareness and knowledge of climate issues will be strengthened while simultaneously increasing women’s position in the decision making process. Three pilot projects will be carried out and function as a link between hands-on climate change mitigation work and policy formulation on questions relating to carbon finance. The pilot projects will build on existing investments in order to maximize impact. The pilot projects are designed to be replicable, and in order to collect and diffuse knowledge and lessons learned from these pilot projects and facilitate their replication, a regional knowledge hub will be established.
Financing
Total cost of the project will be EUR 2.2 million, of which NDF will provide EUR 2.0 million, ADB (as executing agency) will contribute with resources relating to administration, monitoring and co-ordination, and and the remaining part will be provided as in-kind contributions from the participating governments.
